El Recreo
El Recreo
This honey-processed coffee was cultivated by Alirio Rodriguez in the Acevedo region of Colombia. The inherent brightness of the Pink Bourbon varietal is enhanced by the sweetness unique to honey processing. It begins with an elegant orange blossom aroma, leading into the sweetness of ripe fruits like peach and apricot, with an excellent balance of smooth, honeyed texture and sweetness.
Alirio Rodriguez is a third-generation coffee farmer who has been producing coffee in the Huila region of Colombia for over 30 years. He purchased his farm, 'Finca El Recreo,' at the young age of 15. He currently focuses on producing high-quality coffee and securing stable prices, operating the farm with his two adult children. Alirio transitioned to specialty coffee in 2018. He wanted to address the issue of low prices for commercial coffee and expand his business by improving the quality of his coffee production. Pink Bourbon was previously thought to be a cross between Yellow Bourbon and Red Bourbon. This varietal was first discovered in the Huila region of Colombia and its surroundings. However, recent research has revealed that Pink Bourbon is not a Bourbon species at all. It is most likely derived from an Ethiopian landrace.Cultivar - Pink Bourbon
